About The Position

Provides medical care within the scope of education/training and delineated privileges. This role involves providing examinations for diagnosing and treating acute and chronic conditions, performing therapeutic procedures, prescribing medications, ordering and interpreting diagnostic tests, referring patients to specialists, and developing treatment plans in collaboration with patients and other healthcare staff. The Nurse Practitioner will also provide patient counseling and education, maintain patient record confidentiality, manage overall patient care, and update patient charts in the Electronic Health Record. A key responsibility is meeting or exceeding a productivity standard of 2400 billable encounters annually. The role also requires maintaining a Collaborating Practice Agreement, participating in after-hours call, undergoing regular record audits and training, and maintaining continuing medical education requirements. Additional duties may include participation in special projects, community education, and other tasks assigned by management.

Requirements

  • Master's Degree (MA) (MS) or Doctoral Degree (Ph. D.) (DNP) or equivalent from accredited college/university
  • Advanced Practice Registered Nurse Licensure by South Carolina State Board of Nursing
  • Board Certification by a national organization (ANCC or AANP)
  • South Carolina Controlled Substance registration
  • Federal DEA Controlled Substance registration
  • CPR certification
  • Electronic Medical/Health Record
  • ADP Payroll Systems
  • Purchasing/Inventory Software
  • Microsoft Office

Responsibilities

  • Provide examinations for diagnosing and treating acute and chronic conditions, such as: diabetes, high blood pressure, infections and injuries.
  • Perform therapeutic procedures such as administering injections, suturing, and managing wounds/infections
  • Prescribing medications and other treatments
  • Ordering, performing and interpreting diagnostic tests such as lab work and x-rays
  • Refer patients to specialists if necessary and analyzes medical reports/records
  • Provide continuity of care by developing and implementing treatment plans in collaboration with patients/caregivers and other appropriate healthcare staff
  • Provide appropriate patient counseling, education and medical advice
  • Maintain confidentiality of all patient records
  • Manage patients' overall care within scope of practice guidelines, regulations and standards
  • Update patient chart and upload to Electronic Health Record as dictated by agency policy
  • Meet or exceed average minimum productivity standard of 2400 billable encounters annually
  • Maintain and annually review Collaborating Practice Agreement with supervising physician as mandated by state regulations
  • Participate in After Hours Call by telephone per departmental policy
  • Assessed by medical and clinical peers through quarterly record audits and one on one training and observation at least year, or more frequently if needed
  • Maintain continuing medical education as required by credentialing agency
  • Participation in special collaboratives/projects
  • Provide periodic education/counseling at community events
  • Perform other related duties as assigned by management
