About The Position

The Fort Lauderdale, FL office of Lewis Brisbois, a full-service AmLaw 100 firm, is seeking a Nurse Paralegal with litigation experience. The role supports the litigation team by applying clinical nursing knowledge to medical-legal case analysis in defense litigation. The role works closely with attorneys to evaluate standards of care, assess damages and causation issues, analyze medical records, and support case strategy, discovery, depositions, and trial preparation. The primary duties of this position include working for a minimum of 4 attorneys, calendaring, document management including but not limited to review, creation, and organization. In addition, compiling information for discovery responses, interrogatories, pleadings, motions, depositions, and trial preparation are essential functions of this role. Requirements

  • Active RN license required.
  • At least 3-5 years of clinical nursing experience.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, and Word) and legal case management/e-discovery platforms.
  • Strong organizational, written & verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work under tight deadlines and prioritize responsibilities.
  • Ability to work flexible and/or fluctuating work hours.
  • This position has an annual billable requirement of 1,600 hours.

Nice To Haves

  • BSN preferred.
  • 10 years acute care experience preferred.
  • Prior Experience as a Legal Nurse Consultant, Nurse Paralegal, or in medical-legal litigation support preferred.
