About The Position

The Radiology Nurse Navigator will function as the clinical expert and professional resource for the multi-disciplinary team, patients, and caregivers within the specialty area of radiology surgery. The Radiology Nurse Navigator will work within the hospital in Heart and Vascular, leading the management and care delivery for radiology patients with an emphasis on prevention, screening, and surveillance of radiology disease alongside Interventional Radiologist and Advanced Practice Providers. Radiology nurses rely on a specialized body of knowledge, skills, technology, and experience to respond and adapt to patient needs. Radiology nurses use the nursing process to deliver care, including assessment, outcomes identification, planning, implementation, and evaluation. Radiology nursing practice is characterized by interventions that promote health, assess alterations in function, assist patients to regain or improve their function, and prevent further disability. The Radiology Nurse Navigator will assist providers with ensuring prior authorizations are completed or assisting with peer to peer for diagnostic imaging and interventions necessary. Triaging patient phone calls, communicating patient results from labs and imaging to patients, assist with managing the provider’s schedules and informing reps as needed.

Requirements

  • Graduate of accredited nursing program.
  • Current NC RN license or licensure from Nursing Compact State.
  • BCLS certification. If the BCLS certification is not from the American Heart Association (AHA), an AHA certification is required within three months of employment date.
  • At least three years of experience in a medical setting or equivalent educational experience

Nice To Haves

  • BSN preferred.
  • Obtain Certified Radiology Nursing Certification within 3 years of hire (optional)
  • Electronic Health Record (EHR)
