About The Position

As a Nurse Navigator, you will assist patients through education and review of treatment plans so they can fully understand the process and feel supported along the way. Your unique role on the Patient Navigation team gives you the opportunity to educate and assist patients who really need you during a tough time in their lives. Your organization skills allow you to easily walk a patient through the navigation process, and your communication skills help you to stay on the same page with the Patient Advocate regarding the patient’s specific needs. Your compassion and active listening skills often make you one of the go-to team members for our patients and their family members when questions or issues arise. You understand the importance of the guidance you provide to our patients, and you do so by working seamlessly with other areas of the practice.

Requirements

  • Professional nursing degree required.
  • Tennessee State Nursing licensure required.
  • Current BLS certification required upon hire.
  • Live in the Knoxville area or be in the process of relocating.

Nice To Haves

  • BSN degree preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Educate and assist patients through the navigation process.
  • Communicate with the Patient Advocate regarding the patient’s specific needs.
  • Provide nursing care and guidance to the cancer patient from referral through survivorship.
  • Provide excellent customer service by communicating respectfully and thoroughly listening to all shared details.
  • Provide teaching and respond to questions from patients and their family members as they relate to oncology/hematology treatment plans.
  • Serve as a liaison throughout the facility and the community regarding this unique patient population.
  • Systematically perform the functions of assessing, planning, and evaluating the care of our patients including coordinating end-of-life care as it becomes necessary.
  • Jump in and help out with any additional tasks.
