About The Position

Provides independent and collaborative primary healthcare and management of care to women before, during and after pregnancy, including care of the newborn, in accordance with applicable scope and standards of practice and the organization's policies, values, and mission. The position requires critical thinking, decisive judgment, the ability to work under minimal supervision, and appropriate action in a stressful environment.

Requirements

• Master's degree or higher in Nursing required upon hire.
• Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) license in Kentucky required upon hire.
• Registered Nurse (RN) license and eligibility to practice nursing in Kentucky required upon hire.
• Certified Nurse-Midwife certification through the American Midwifery Certification Board (AMCB) required upon hire.
• Requires critical thinking skills and decisive judgment.
• Must be able to work under minimal supervision and take appropriate action in a stressful environment.

Responsibilities

• Obtains patient history and performs assessments through observation, interview, and examination.
• Plans, implements, and evaluates patient care plans.
• Monitors, records, and communicates patient condition as appropriate.
• Performs appropriate emergency interventions and consults the attending physician regarding complications and emergencies.
• Provides education and counseling to patients and their families about pregnancy, childbirth, newborn care, contraception, family planning, and gynecological care.
• Provides care that promotes age- and culture-appropriate informed choices, shared decision-making, and the right to self-determination.
• Supports the organization's mission, vision, core commitments, and business interests; follows organizational policies and procedures and acts consistently with a culture of compliance, safety, and high reliability.
