The Nurse Manager is responsible and accountable for all aspects of nursing practice and performance within their area, ensuring organizational goals and targets are met. They will develop, foster, and sustain an environment of excellence in patient/family service, staff growth and development, quality nursing care, and staff engagement and satisfaction.

Requirements

  • Bachelors Degree in Nursing
  • Minimum 3 years experience
  • Current NYS Registered Professional Nurse License
  • Current BLS Certification - American Heart Association
  • Certification in area of specialty and/ or Nursing Administration (NE/NEA) obtain within 2 years.
  • Qualified candidates must be able to effectively communicate with all levels of the organization.

Nice To Haves

  • Masters Degree in Nursing: Preferred upon hire. Required within 5 years of employment in Nurse Manager role (if hired or promoted after 10/1/25)
  • Experience collaborating closely with other management staff and leadership.
  • Excellent communication and conflict resolution skills.

  • Coordinates care delivery using labor productivity data to plan and evaluate staffing patterns, discharge and/or volume targets, and to assist clinical leaders to plan and validate staffing patterns.
  • Holds self and others accountable for the delivery of exemplary care in a cost-efficient manner.
  • Coordinates and facilitates activities to promote service and interdisciplinary teamwork, role modeling service standards and functioning as a respectful leader.
  • Designs, implements and evaluates programs and activities to ensure compliance with accreditation, regulatory standards, service standards and policies.
  • Participates in the development, approval, and implementation of nursing and organizational policy, incorporating the precepts of shared governance.
  • Collects, analyzes, and utilizes data to drive practice changes that integrate quality, safety, patient experience, and productivity metrics to achieve excellence in patient and nursing outcomes.
  • Participates in and fosters staff involvement in nursing research and evidence-based practice efforts.
  • Ensures staff compliance with maintaining licenses, certifications, and mandated learnings and content.
  • Develops positive and productive relationships across disciplines to establish strategic partnerships to achieve shared goals.
  • Fosters high reliability concepts within the unit/organizational structure.
  • Communicates with clarity and integrity to build trust with all stakeholders.
