About The Position

Facilitates the day-to-day operations, leads, develops, and represents the department in service line initiatives. The registered professional is also accountable for the management of patient care during a designated time frame. Responsibilities include coordination and evaluation of care, teaching, and delegation of patient activities to other health care team members. Responsible for day-to-day operations, scheduling, staffing, and providing 24/7 accountability for patient care delivery with nearly 80 FTEs (primarily RNs with some techs and clerical staff), planning, and evaluation of services of one or more clinical areas. The unit manager participates in and supports strategic development and outcomes management of nursing service line and/or department improvements within multi and/or specialty units of responsibility. They are responsible for review and evaluation of operations and services in accordance with business requirements, marketplace trends, and technological needs. Provides clinical and administrative leadership for planning, organizing, directing, monitoring, and evaluating safe, superior, and preeminent quality patient care to ensure the advancement of clinical practice and patient care for a nursing unit. Collaborates with and supports director and key UEM key leaders, groups, and stakeholder audiences in the development and implementation of operational plans, goals, and objectives.

Requirements

  • BSN (Bachelor of Science in Nursing).
  • Current Michigan License.
  • Three years of clinical nursing or unit-level leadership experience.

Responsibilities

  • Demonstrate customer focused interpersonal skills in order to lead, interact and collaborate with hospital personnel, surgeons, anesthesia providers and customers.
  • Demonstrate ability to utilize critical thinking; to identify and solve problems and implement solutions.
  • Develop and implement effective ongoing communication process for optimal distribution of information within nursing service, among physicians and other health team members and hospital departments.
