About The Position

Millwood Hospital, a UHS Facility, is a 134-bed mental health facility providing inpatient and outpatient mental health and chemical dependency treatment. Since 1971, Millwood has served children, adolescents, adults, and seniors with its multidisciplinary staff. Located in Arlington, TX, the hospital is Joint Commission accredited and part of Universal Health Services, Inc. The Nurse Manager is responsible for the coordinated delivery of patient care according to established standards, policies, and objectives. This role contributes to the hospital's philosophy, objectives, and improvement efforts, while supervising House Supervisors, RNs, and MHTs. The Nurse Manager monitors staffing needs, assists the CNO/ADON with staff training, and provides patient nursing assessments as needed. Participation in Treatment Team meetings is also required. Availability for at least one overnight shift per quarter, occasional weekends, and midshifts is necessary, along with attendance at full hospital and departmental orientations.

Requirements

  • Graduate from an accredited school of professional nursing required or equivalent combination of education and experience in nursing management.
  • A minimum of three (3) years of progressive nursing leadership experience.
  • Experience in staff education and education concepts, practices and procedures.
  • Experience in 24-hour shift staffing.
  • Currently licensed to practice by the Texas State Board of Nursing.
  • Thorough knowledge of JCAHO, HCFA, OSHA requirements, and state and federal regulatory requirements.
  • CPR certification within 30 days of employment.
  • Successful completion of training in Management of Assaultive Behavior (CPI) Crisis Prevention Intervention and Service Excellence Training within 90 days of employment.
  • Must be available to work at least one overnight shift each quarter, occasional weekends, and midshifts.
  • Must be available to attend the Full hospital and departmental orientations: Week 1: M-F 8 AM - 5 PM / Week 2: M & Tu 9 AM - 5 PM

Responsibilities

  • Ensuring coordinated delivery of patient care in accordance with established standards of care, mental health practice and hospital policy, goals and objectives.
  • Assisting in contributing to the hospital’s philosophy, objectives, educational and Performance & Improvement efforts.
  • Providing supervision of House Supervisors, RN’s and MHTs.
  • Monitoring staffing needs on assigned shifts.
  • Assisting the CNO/ADON in evaluating, reviewing, designing and implementing hospital training events with respect to all RN//MHT staff required training.
  • Providing, on an as-needed basis, patient nursing assessments.
  • Participating in Treatment Team meetings as needed.
