About The Position

Legacy Behavioral Health is seeking a Nurse Manager for its BHCC Department in Valdosta, Georgia. This role involves providing direction and supervision to the BHCC nursing and clinical support staff, coordinating patient care delivery, and ensuring quality assurance by assisting in the formulation and implementation of nursing policies and procedures. The Nurse Manager acts as a liaison between nursing staff, physicians, administration, and other stakeholders at LBHS. Key duties include assuming charge in the absence of the BHCC Director, performing treatments, and delivering patient care according to medical orders and accepted Nursing Standard of Practice guidelines. The Nurse Manager of the BHCC is supervised by the Administrative Director of the BHCC and holds 24/7 nursing oversight responsibilities. Legacy Behavioral Health Services supports 10 counties in South Georgia, including Ben-Hill, Berrien, Brooks, Cook, Echols, Irwin, Lanier, Lowndes, Tift, and Turner County, with a commitment to individualized care, quality support, and life transformation.

Requirements

  • A Bachelor of Nursing or Bachelor of Science in a health-related field
  • Two years of psychiatric nursing experience
  • Actively licensed as a Registered Nurse in the state of Georgia
  • Knowledge of principles and practices of effective employee supervision, development, and evaluation
  • Knowledge of psychiatric nursing treatment and psychotherapeutic interventions
  • Knowledge of theories, techniques, and practices of professional nursing
  • Knowledge of principles, practices, and laws of professional nursing
  • Knowledge of laws and regulations pertaining to psychiatric nursing
  • Knowledge of the uses and effects of psychotropic drugs and narcotics
  • Knowledge of patient safety practices and locked-facility security
  • Knowledge of theories, principles, and techniques of group and individual psychotherapy
  • Knowledge of symptoms and behavior patterns of emotionally disturbed and mentally ill patients
  • Knowledge of mental health community resources and services
  • Knowledge of health education and interviewing and counseling techniques
  • Knowledge of common mental and physical illnesses, diseases, disabilities, injuries, and nutrition
  • Knowledge of medical equipment operation
  • Ability to plan, organize, direct, and evaluate the work of nursing and support staff and facility activities in a 24-hour psychiatric unit

  • Master’s degree
  • One year of experience serving as a lead worker over nursing staff in a psychiatric health facility or inpatient unit

Responsibilities

  • Provide direction and supervision to the BHCC nursing and clinical support staff
