About The Position

Provides leadership and management to nursing and ancillary personnel in an assigned clinical area or unit. Manages clinical functions and operations, ensuring efficient and effective delivery of patient care and services and compliance with administrative, regulatory, and clinical policies and procedures. Performs duties in accordance with the medical center’s purpose. This is a full-time, salaried, exempt position in the Adult Float Pool at the University of Mississippi Medical Center’s Main Campus in Jackson. The work shift is rotating.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in nursing.
• Five years of RN experience, including two years in a leadership role.
• Valid RN license.
• Knowledge of nursing and patient-care standards and procedures.
• Verbal and written communication skills.
• Interpersonal skills.
• Attention to detail.
• Analytical and conceptual skills.
• Leadership and management skills.
• Project-management skills, including the ability to manage resources effectively.

• Clinical experience in the area to be supervised or managed.

Responsibilities

• Manage and direct patient-care operations and delivery within budgetary, staffing, and regulatory guidelines, using evidence-based practice.
• Ensure personnel meet quality standards for customer satisfaction and patient care.
• Coach, educate, consult with, train, and evaluate nursing and ancillary personnel in the assigned area or unit.
• Plan, schedule, and organize work to distribute assignments appropriately and use clinical personnel, space, and facilities efficiently.
• Ensure compliance with productivity standards for assigned areas or units.
• Participate in ongoing quality-improvement activities to enhance clinical care.
• Serve on at least one nursing council, hospital or medical center committee, task force, or project team to improve patient care or the work area.
• Demonstrate core standards of exceptional customer service.
