POSITION SUMMARY: The Nurse Manager, is the assistant to the DON and responsible for ensuring coordinated delivery of patient care in accordance with the established standards of care, mental health practice and hospital policy, goals and objectives. This position assists in contributing to the hospital’s philosophy, objectives, educational and Performance & Improvement efforts, while providing supervision of House Supervisors, RN’s and MHTs. This position will monitor staffing needs on assigned shifts. This position is responsible for assisting the DON in evaluating, reviewing, designing and implementing hospital training events with respect to all RN/MHT staff required training. This position also provides, on as-needed basis, patient care assignment coverage and participation in Treatment Team meetings as needed.

Requirements

  • Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing.
  • Currently licensed to practice by the Texas State Board of Nursing.
  • Current Texas State Registered Nurse License.
  • Current CPR or BLS certification.
  • Aggressive Behavior Management training within 90 days of hire date.
  • Deemed a Qualified Mental Health Provider (QMHP).
  • A minimum of (5) years of progressive nursing leadership experience in a psychiatric or behavioral healthcare setting preferred.
  • Experience in staff education and education concepts, practices and procedures.
  • 24-hour shift staffing experience.
  • Thorough knowledge of JCAHO, HCFA, OSHA requirements, and state and federal regulatory requirements.
