About The Position

The Nurse Manager supervises a team of nursing staff in their designated units and coordinates the safe and evidence-based delivery of care 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Maintains a servant leadership approach. The post holder is a clinical resource to all nursing and multidisciplinary team members within their specialty. Dually reports directly to the VP of Allied Health and CNO. Responsible for nursing management of Cancer Services.

Requirements

  • RN with 5 years minimum of current oncology experience, ONC Certificate preferred.
  • Current NYS RN licensure/registration
  • Minimum of 3 years in a management role
  • BSN required/MSN preferred.
  • BLS from the American Heart Association required.
  • Excellent organizational, interpersonal, communicative and multi-tasking skills.
  • Must have good customer service and critical thinking skills.
  • Successfully complete pre-employment physical examination and obtain medical clearance from Stony Brook Medicine's Employee Health Services
  • Complete electronic reference check with a minimum of three (3) professional references.
  • Successfully complete a 4 panel drug screen
  • Meet Regulatory Requirements for pre employment screenings.
  • Provide a copy of any required New York State license(s)/certificate(s).

Nice To Haves

Responsibilities

  • Develops and introduces approved standards and guidelines for the oncology program.
  • Collaborates with Policies and Procedures to support the functional infrastructure of the department.
  • Works on payroll and budget with the assistance of the finance department.
  • Monthly scheduling of all nursing/staff members assigned to units.
  • Day-to-day rounding patient rounds to identify needs.
  • Ability to troubleshoot any patient issues at the Cancer Center.
  • Participate in regulatory agency compliance activities/meetings/issues.
  • Participate in all quality improvement projects.
  • Supervisor for identification and resolution of issues on-site.
  • Patient/Family and Staff advocate.
  • Review of staff policies, competencies, and educational files.
  • Conduct performance appraisals on all responsible staff members.
  • Participate in the hiring process of all staff units.
  • Work collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team of Physicians, Nurse Practitioners, Technical Staff, Social Worker and Patient Access Staff.
