Requirements

Current State of Connecticut - Department of Public Health Registered Nurse License (RN)
CPR certification.
3-5 years’ experience in a leadership or managerial role.

Nice To Haves

Experience in behavioral health / substance abuse field preferred.

Responsibilities

Responsible for operations of the unit to ensure the delivery of quality services in accordance with applicable policies, procedures and mandates of all funding agencies.
Responsible for supporting the effective fiscal management of the unit and to ensure the proper utilization of organizational resources.
Responsible for patient records, facility log, Department of Mental Health and Addiction Services reports and other reports as required.
Screen and review incoming medical information/records to determine appropriateness for admission to unit.
Orient and supervise nursing staff – RNs and/or LPNs.
Provide explanation of basic care, test procedures, and care philosophy to the clients and family when necessary.
Collaborates with physicians and multidisciplinary professional staff.
Enforces adherence to the state board of nursing and state nurse practice requirements
Maintains nursing staff by recruiting, selecting, orienting, and training nurses and auxiliary staff.
Maintains a safe and clean working environment by designing health procedures and protocols.
Oversees preparation and maintenance of client's clinical records.
Oversees the ordering of drugs, solutions, and equipment, and maintains records on narcotics.
Oversees the destruction of outdated/discarded medications
