About The Position

Lead a Special Needs Unit in a skilled nursing facility, overseeing clinical operations and creating an environment where staff development, patient safety, and exceptional resident care come together. This full-time, day-shift role involves rotational weekend coverage and offers the chance to advance your nursing leadership career while making a lasting impact on residents' lives in a compassionate long term care setting. You will implement strategies that achieve uncompromising quality, exceptional patient safety, and an outstanding experience for patients, residents, and families. You will intentionally create an environment that fosters staff empowerment, collegial relationships, and best practice in nursing care delivery.

Requirements

  • Graduate from an accredited Registered Professional Nurse Program
  • Current New York State License to practice as a Professional Registered Nurse
  • At least 2 years recent manager experience in a long term care facility
  • Two years of nursing experience or two years of long term care experience
  • Consistent work history in long term care settings
  • Knowledge of management systems and processes
  • Familiarity with DOH requirements
  • Professionalism, compassionate leadership, and effective communication that promotes dignity, respect, and well-being

Nice To Haves

  • Experience as a Nurse Manager or Nursing Supervisor
  • Special Needs Unit experience

Responsibilities

  • Allocating resources to promote efficient, effective, compassionate, and fiscally responsible nursing care
  • Coordinating care across departments through interdisciplinary collaboration and communication systems
  • Participating in recruitment, selection, and retention of nursing personnel
  • Ensuring appropriate orientation, education, credentialing, and continuing professional development for your team
  • Managing multiple priorities, meeting deadlines, and facilitating project management under pressure
  • Assessing departmental needs, developing and implementing planned interventions, and evaluating their effectiveness
  • Demonstrating age-appropriate care across the lifespan, tailoring care to each resident's unique requirements
  • Communicating effectively with staff, patients, families, physicians, and the healthcare team
  • Utilizing computer systems including word processing, spreadsheets, and presentation software (Microsoft Office and Meditech preferred)
