About The Position

Reporting to the Director of Nursing, the Fallsway Nurse Manager oversees and supervises Medical Assistants (MAs) within the Adult Medical Clinic at the 421 Fallsway location. This role is responsible for the day-to-day management, training, scheduling, auditing of tasks, and performance oversight of the nursing department to ensure safe, efficient, and high-quality clinic operations. The Fallsway Nurse Manager serves as a key on-the-ground clinical and operational resource, providing real-time support to nursing and clinic teams, including supporting the nursing team by stepping during periods of severe short staffing as needed to maintain patient care and clinic flow. This position also functions as an integral member of the interdisciplinary health care team and provides nursing care in accordance with the duties and responsibilities of the Registered Nurse position.

Requirements

  • Current licensure as a Registered Nurse in Maryland
  • BSN required
  • BLS CPR certification required
  • Three years of clinical experience as an RN required
  • Two years in a community health center or primary care setting as an RN required

Responsibilities

  • Supervises MAs in the Fallsway Adult Medical Clinic. Sets clear expectations, develops and manages schedules, monitors performance and outcomes, conducts regular audits of MA tasks and workflows, and fosters a culture of open communication, accountability, and continuous improvement through individual supervision and coaching.
  • Oversees MA orientation, training, and competency compliance. Ensures MAs receive appropriate onboarding, ongoing training, and timely completion of required competencies in accordance with agency policies, procedures, and regulatory standards.
  • Provides on-the-ground operational and clinical support to MAs. Serves as a readily available resource for workflow guidance, problem-solving, and real-time support, including directly performing MA duties during periods of severe short staffing to ensure continuity of patient care.
  • Provides direct patient care through a minimum of two (2) clinical sessions weekly, adjusting clinical time as necessary to support clinic capacity, staffing needs, and continuity of care.
  • Performs all duties of the Registered Nurse position. Collaborates with other providers in an integrated, multidisciplinary care team; attends meetings as required; engages care team members in problem-solving regarding client care; and links clients to behavioral health, psychiatric, dental, and supportive services.
  • Completes documentation of services in a legible manner in accordance with established formats and required timeframes within the electronic health record.
  • Assists the Director of Nursing in developing and implementing program changes and performance improvement activities. Partners closely with the Director of Nursing and Practice Managers to ensure high-quality client care and smooth clinic operations.
  • Maintains clinical and regulatory standards, including infectious disease practices, in accordance with agency protocols.
  • Obtains and shares up-to-date information from scientific and practice literature and other resources to improve quality of care and clinical operations.
