About The Position

Private Medical is seeking a dynamic and experienced Registered Nurse Manager to support their San Francisco team. This role provides leadership and oversight to exceptional nursing staff, ensuring the delivery of high-quality, safe patient care, maintaining procedural integrity, fostering a culture of continuous improvement, and supporting consistent clinical operations at the site level. The Nurse Manager partners closely with the San Francisco Site Operations Manager, physicians, and operational leadership to support staffing reliability, clinical workflow execution, nursing team performance, and a strong member experience. This role also collaborates with the Site Operations Manager on clinical scheduling, time cards, PTO planning, and coverage management to ensure safe, efficient day-to-day operations in San Francisco. The role is primarily site-based in San Francisco, while also collaborating with other nurse leaders and cross-functional partners on standardization, problem-solving, and broader organizational initiatives as needed.

Requirements

  • Active California RN license, current BLS certification, and valid California driver’s license.
  • Minimum of 3 years of management experience and leading large teams.
  • Minimum of five years of nursing experience, with demonstrated leadership or training responsibilities.
  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) required.
  • Demonstrated experience in developing and implementing clinical policies and procedures.
  • Strong understanding of patient safety principles, quality improvement methodologies, and regulatory requirements.
  • Proven ability to lead, mentor, and develop nursing staff.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities across different locations.
  • Proficiency in electronic health records (EHR) and other relevant healthcare technology.
  • Ability to travel regularly to assigned clinical sites.

  • Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Provide strong clinical leadership and direction to nursing staff at assigned locations, championing a culture of patient safety and adherence to best practices.
  • Ensure consistent application of safety protocols and guidelines across all clinical procedures, monitoring compliance and implementing corrective actions as needed.
  • Oversee the specialties for the assigned locations, for example gynecology. This includes policies, procedures, laboratory testing, specimen handling, specialized equipment purchases, training and cleaning procedures. Collaborate with the CMO and specialists for specific departmental goals and needs.
  • Develop, implement, and maintain comprehensive clinical policies, procedures, and protocols that align with industry standards, regulatory requirements, and organizational goals.
  • Oversee the recruitment, onboarding, training, performance evaluation, and professional development of nursing staff within the assigned region and/or locations. Direct reports may range from 10-25 staff members including RNs, MAs, LVNs and other licensed and unlicensed personnel supporting clinical needs, inventory and phlebotomy (referred to as the nursing team).
  • Collaborate with site leadership and human resources to optimize nursing staff performance, identify areas for improvement, and implement strategies to enhance efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Partner with leadership to analyze staffing needs, develop efficient and cost-effective staffing models, and implement strategies to ensure appropriate coverage across all clinical sites.
  • Utilize data to monitor key performance indicators, identify trends, and develop strategies to improve clinical outcomes and operational efficiency.
  • Lead and participate in quality improvement initiatives, utilizing data to identify trends, implement evidence-based practices, and measure outcomes.
  • Foster effective communication and collaboration among nursing staff, physicians, administrative teams, and other stakeholders across the region.
  • Ensure all nursing practices and documentation adhere to relevant federal, state, and local regulations, as well as Private Medical policies and procedures.
  • Address and resolve clinical and operational issues related to nursing staff and patient care in a timely and effective manner.
  • Participate in the development and management of nursing department budgets for assigned locations, ensuring responsible resource allocation.
  • Actively collaborate with other Regional Nurse Managers to ensure consistently across sites and provide cross coverage.
  • Actively participate in assigned committees, projects and tasks to support site and organizational needs.
