About The Position

Cedar Hill Regional Medical Center GW Health is the first new full-service hospital in Washington, DC in more than 20 years, integrating clinical care with existing community providers, Federally Qualified Health Centers (FQHC’s), The George Washington University Hospital, and our Urgent Care Center in Ward 8. This integrated delivery system is a robust network of care for all District residents, but more importantly, it ensures that residents of Wards 7 and 8 have access to high quality care in their community. This full-service hospital includes 136 beds (with the ability to expand to 184 beds), a verified trauma center, adult and pediatric emergency departments, maternal health and newborn delivery, an ambulatory pavilion for clinic visits and other outpatient services, a 500-car garage, and a helipad for emergency transport. We are currently seeking a Nurse Manager - Medical/Surgical/Telemetry. The Nurse Manager – Medical-Surgical/Telemetry is responsible for the overall leadership, management, and operational oversight of the assigned unit(s). This role ensures the delivery of high-quality, patient-centered care while promoting a culture of safety, service excellence, and staff engagement. The Nurse Manager collaborates with interdisciplinary teams to drive clinical excellence, optimize patient outcomes, and support organizational goals.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) required
  • DC RN License required
  • Minimum 3–5 years of acute care nursing experience (Medical-Surgical/Telemetry required)
  • Minimum 1–2 years of leadership or charge nurse experience preferred
  • BLS certification required

Nice To Haves

  • Master’s degree in Nursing, Healthcare Administration, or related field preferred
  • Specialty certification (Medical-Surgical, PCCN) preferred

Responsibilities

  • Provide 24/7 leadership and accountability for unit operations, staffing, and patient care delivery
  • Ensure compliance with hospital policies, regulatory standards, and accreditation requirements
  • Monitor and improve clinical quality indicators (falls, CAUTI, CLABSI, readmissions, etc.)
  • Lead staffing operations including scheduling, productivity management, and resource allocation
  • Recruit, hire, onboard, and retain nursing staff; support performance management and employee development
  • Foster a positive work environment that promotes teamwork, engagement, and professional growth
  • Collaborate with physicians, clinical leaders, and support departments to coordinate patient care
  • Oversee patient flow, throughput, and discharge planning to optimize length of stay
  • Manage departmental budget, including labor and supply expenses
  • Ensure competency validation, ongoing education, and adherence to evidence-based practices
  • Lead and participate in performance improvement initiatives and shared governance activities
  • Address patient, family, and staff concerns in a timely and professional manner
