Manages the daily operations and work activities of professional nursing and nursing support staff on assigned unit. This role is full-time, Exempt, working 80 hours biweekly on days. The Nurse Manager is responsible for recommending staffing levels, structuring an adequate staffing mix, and ensuring appropriate nursing standards and practices are developed and implemented. They identify patient needs, collaborate on quality improvement action plans, and encourage staff to resolve patient/family concerns. The position also involves maintaining awareness of high-risk cases, initiating personnel actions, ensuring staff education on patient confidentiality, advocating for staff equity, and acting as a role model/mentor to foster professional governance and succession planning. Consultation with specialists and adjustments to nursing care processes are also key functions. Unit-based skill lists and nursing education requirements, including current BLS certification and potentially ACLS and PALS for the Emergency Care Center, are part of the role's expectations.
