About The Position

The Nurse LPN works as a member of a multi-disciplinary team providing therapeutic and rehabilitative services to address all treatment needs, including crisis management, substance abuse treatment, medication management, physical health treatment, mental health treatment, accessing benefits and entitlements, and other supportive services.

Requirements

  • Substance use medicine with experience in Methadone Dispensing and Accounting.
  • Organizational and supervisory skills. Detail-oriented.
  • Knowledge of infectious disease and other medical issues common to this population.
  • Accurate record keeping and quality check of staff record keeping for methadone dispensing, transcription of physician orders, and preparation of bottles for dispensing.
  • Recognizing physical signs consistent with substance use disorders.
  • Understanding of the SAMMS system.
  • Knowledge of current regulatory requirements.
  • Pharmacology of acute, chronic and withdrawal effects of drug use.
  • Understand and interpret results from urine screens and toxicology tests.
  • Understanding HIV, Hepatitis, TB and other infectious diseases of this population.
  • Understanding of mental illness issues of this population.
  • Understanding of internal and external medical and supportive services.
  • Cultural competence and sensitivity.
  • Fast, accurate documentation skills.
  • Effective oral and written communication skills.
  • Fluent in Spanish, bicultural applicants strongly preferred.
  • Ability to work effectively with peers, individual clients and groups.
  • Desire to learn new skills.
  • Ability to maintain accurate records and necessary paperwork.
  • knowledge of de-escalation methods of ability to be trained in de-escalation methods.
  • A current license as an RN or LPN in the State of Illinois
  • Minimum of 1-2 years of experience in Methadone Dispensing and Accounting
  • Current CPR Certification

Responsibilities

  • Maintain a clean and organized environment for medical services.
  • Assist Medical Director and/or Unit Physician with medical assessments and evaluations.
  • Dispense Methadone per clinical, licensure and accreditation standards, based on physician orders and give client care as needed, monitoring for side effects.
  • Provide health education and services to clients and staff.
  • Accurate transcription of physician’s orders in a timely manner.
  • Participate in staff trainings, Clinical Staffings, Client Care Monitoring, QA and Clinical Staffing as needed.
  • Participate in regular supervision from the Clinical Manager/Clinical Director, seeking additional supervision whenever necessary. Minimum requirement of one hour of documented supervision per month.
  • Adhere to all state and federal privacy regulations, licensure and accreditation standards including but not limited to HITECH, HIPAA and 42 CFR Part 2 and 42 CFR Part 8, IDHS and CARF and to policies and agreements regarding confidentiality, privacy, and security. Support compliance with our privacy and security requirements and outside providers’ patient confidentiality agreements, including privacy and security requirements for EMR access. This includes immediate reporting of any PHI breach to the compliance departments, as well as to the program director.
