About The Position

Community Medical Services (CMS) is seeking a Nurse (LPN or RN) to provide outpatient medication and treatment services for individuals with opioid use disorder, as well as process specimens. This role operates under the supervision of the Nursing Manager, Director of Nursing, and Clinic Manager. The Nurse will be responsible for administering medication, assisting medical providers, conducting necessary testing, managing medication inventory and audit records, and supporting the overall operations of the clinic. A core aspect of the position is delivering patient-centered care in a professional environment. CMS is a CARF-accredited addiction treatment program that offers outpatient medication-assisted treatment and one-on-one and group counseling to those struggling with opioid use disorder. Headquartered in Arizona, CMS operates over 70 treatment clinics across 14 states, committed to addressing the opioid epidemic in communities where treatment is needed. The position requires travel to the prison as necessary due to staffing needs, with mileage reimbursed from the clinic to the prison.

Requirements

  • Licensed LPN or RN in state of employment
  • CPR Certification Required
  • Ability to travel to assigned CMS sites
  • Experience with diagnostic testing and specimen collection
  • Ability to have conversations with patients
  • Knowledge of the signs of intoxication and opioid withdrawal symptoms
  • Demonstrates accuracy in medication administration and ability to maintain accurate client records

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in the field of substance use disorders preferred, but not required

Responsibilities

  • Travel to the prison as necessary due to staffing needs
  • Administer medications as ordered/prescribed by a CMS medical provider
  • Follow all medical provider orders
  • Monitor behavioral patterns, medical symptoms, and physical symptoms related to dosage, as well as other symptoms related to drug use (both licit and illicit) and mental health concerns
  • Obtain vital signs, blood specimens, and urine samples
  • Process point of care urine drug screens per company policy
  • Prepare take-home medication (n/a in Montana)
  • Monitor medication administration closely to prevent diversion
  • Report diversion to proper internal authorities
  • Maintain accurate client records in company’s EHR system
  • Document medication errors and respond to adverse medical reactions per company policy
  • Arrange temporary incoming and outgoing courtesy dosing clients
  • Deliver medications to external facilities
  • Order necessary dosing room and nursing-related supplies
  • Order necessary medications (n/a in Montana)
  • Maintain accurate medication inventory records
  • Adhere to all federal, state, local, and accrediting body regulations
  • Administer CPR, if necessary
  • Participate in continuing education and/or other job-related training
  • Adhere to and enforce company policies and procedures
  • Collect and process phlebotomy/venipuncture and capillary testing as ordered by provider
