About The Position

This role is for a Nurse Intern in the Cardiothoracic Progressive Care Unit (PCU) at Via Christi St. Francis in Wichita, KS. The intern will support patient well-being by assisting with daily living activities and monitoring vital signs. They will observe and report patient status and responses to their preceptor, assist in developing care plans using patient observations and test results, and support the unit's workflow by preparing and transporting patients for diagnostic services and ensuring a safe, clean environment.

Requirements

  • BLS Provider obtained within 1 Month (30 days) of hire date or job transfer date. American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted.
  • High school diploma/GED required.
  • Must be accepted or enrolled into a Nursing program upon date of hire/transfer and begin classes within 90 days of date of hire/transfer.
  • You are actively pursuing your nursing degree through an accredited ADN, BSN, or MSN program.

Responsibilities

  • Support patients’ well-being by assisting with activities of daily living and accurately monitoring vital signs.
  • Observe patient status and responses firsthand and document and report these observations directly to your preceptor.
  • Assist your preceptor in developing comprehensive care plans, using your reports on test results and patient observations to help shape clinical outcomes.
  • Take an active role in the flow of the department, from preparing and transporting patients for diagnostic services to ensuring a safe, clean environment for healing.
