Nurse Intern NICU December 2027 grads

Children's Wisconsin•Milwaukee, WI

About The Position

Children’s Wisconsin is hiring a Nurse Intern in the NICU for December 2027 graduates only. The intern works under the direction and supervision of a Registered Nurse and performs nursing tasks for which they have been trained and have demonstrated competency through a skills checklist. The position is intended for candidates with strong interest in a future NICU RN position. If promoted to RN, the intern role is considered an investment in RN orientation. The intern must commit to three 8-hour shifts in each two-week pay period throughout the school year and summer, and be able to work days or nights. Future NICU RN positions may be straight nights or rotate between day and night shifts, with six weeks on each shift. Candidates must be comfortable with a long-term commitment to night work; due to the size of the unit and team, the likely wait to move to day shift is six or more years. The target start date is January 4, 2027. Hired candidates must attend a New Hire Welcome session on that date from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Candidates with class or clinical commitments that day must make alternate arrangements with their school or faculty. Children’s Wisconsin is a nationally recognized health system dedicated to children’s health and well-being. It provides a range of health, community, family support, foster and adoption, counseling, and child advocacy services. The organization states that it is an equal opportunity and affirmative action employer committed to a diverse and inclusive environment.
