About The Position

Children’s Wisconsin is hiring a Nurse Intern in its Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU), considering only candidates graduating in December 2027. The intern works under the direction and supervision of a Registered Nurse, performing nursing tasks for which they have been trained and have demonstrated competency through a skills checklist. The position requires a commitment to three 8-hour shifts per two-week pay period throughout the school year and summer, with availability for day or night shifts. Candidates should have a strong interest in a future RN position in the NICU and be comfortable with the long-term possibility of working nights. Future NICU RN schedules may be straight nights or rotating days and nights, with six weeks on each shift; the posting notes that reaching a day-shift schedule may take six or more years. The targeted start date is January 4, 2027, with a required New Hire Welcome session from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. on that date. Candidates with class or clinical commitments must make alternate arrangements with their school or faculty.
