About The Position

Under the direct supervision of licensed personnel, the Nurse Intern performs routine duties to assist nursing staff in delivering patient care. The role is direct-care focused, with most of the intern’s time spent interacting with, assisting, and supporting patients. The Nurse Intern helps maintain a safe environment and develops therapeutic relationships with patients to support the healing process. The position may require remaining on campus immediately before, during, and after severe weather or disasters.

Requirements

• Registered Nurse license.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care in collaboration with licensed personnel, using appropriate skills and judgment.
• Perform department duties within the scope of service to address each client’s needs, including sitting with patients and Baker Acted patients.
• Document collected data accurately and keep it up to date, including patient vital signs and intake and output.
• Maintain current knowledge and certification.
• Perform clerical duties that support the healthcare team’s delivery of patient care.
• Receive and direct phone calls and serve as the department receptionist.
• Maintain department supplies and inventory.
• Perform other duties as assigned to support department and organizational operations.
• Remain on campus immediately before, during, and after severe weather or disasters when required.
