About The Position

As a Nurse Intern in Saint Alphonsus ASCEND Program, you will work side by side with a designated RN preceptor in a 1:1 partnership. You will continue to advance your skills and clinical experiences to nurture development through experiential learning with direct RN observation, support, and mentorship. Some additional programmatic components of ASCEND are weekly check-ins with Clinical Experience Program Manager and your unit leader, career and professional mentoring, networking, goal setting, individualized professional development pathways and a lot of 1:1 support through the transition to practice from student to RN. Service Line Opportunities: Critical Care Acute Care Cardiac Availability may vary. The ASCEND program starts in June and runs for 8 weeks as a Nurse Intern. Following this, there is a flexible schedule from August through May/Graduation, requiring one 12-hour shift every pay period during school. A commitment of full-time as a Registered Nurse for a minimum of one year after graduation is also required. If the scheduling/time commitment for ASCEND doesn't align with your summer plans, there are traditional Nurse Apprentice positions available which offer clinical experience and a smooth transition from student to RN.

Requirements

  • Enrollment in an accredited/approved nursing education program that is substantially equivalent to Idaho's approved programs for practical/registered nursing.
  • Nurse Intern Letter of approval from the Idaho Board of Nursing.
  • BLS from American Heart Association or American Red Cross (ACLS and/or PALS may be accepted in lieu of BLS).
  • Full-Time commitment from June through July (8 weeks as a Nurse Intern).
  • Flexible schedule from August through May/Graduation (one 12-hour shift every pay period during school).
  • Full-time commitment as a Registered Nurse for a minimum of one year after graduation.
