About The Position

Memorial Hospital offers a new program for nursing students. The Nurse Intern program is a dynamic non-paid learning experience that allows nursing students in the last year of their program to participate in direct patient care with assigned RN mentors. Nursing Interns have the opportunity to train and work with their assigned RN mentor on the Medical/Surgical and Emergency Units while participating in the program.

Requirements

• Nursing student in their last year of an Associate or Bachelor’s Degree Nursing Program
• Provide competency skills completion from Nursing Program
• Must remain in good standing with a Cumulative GPA minimum of 3.0, in the Nursing Program
• Letter of recommendation from Nursing Faculty
• Short essay on how your career in nursing will impact your community and why it is more than just a job.
• CPR certification
• Meet all immunization requirements
• Must protect the private and confidential matters of patients and employees.
• Must maintain all HIPPA laws, requirements and regulations.

Responsibilities

• Works under the direction of the RN Mentor to Complete all care except for Medication Administration and IV starts
• POC testing
• Vital Signs
• Transfer patients to-from internal departments
• Dressing changes
• Suctioning
• Support Tasks
• Documentation with RN Mentor oversight
