About The Position

The Birth Center is seeking a Nurse Intern to gain hands-on experience alongside experienced registered nurses. The position is for a nursing student currently enrolled in a program leading to Registered Nurse licensure. It may also include a nursing graduate who has not yet passed the licensure exam and is awaiting a retake; in that circumstance, the graduate will be identified as a Nurse Technician. Nurse Interns work under the direct and present supervision of a Registered Nurse.

Requirements

• High school graduate or equivalent.
• Currently enrolled in a nursing program leading to Registered Nurse licensure; students must be in the fourth semester of a two-year ADN program or the fourth year of a four-year BSN program.
• Completion of basic clinical skills required by the current nursing program.
• BLS certification required.
• Graduate nurses who receive notification of failure of State Boards shall practice under the Nurse Technician position description.

Nice To Haves

• Active certification as a nursing assistant (CNA).

Responsibilities

• Work under the direct and present supervision of a Registered Nurse.
• Assist with patient care and with transferring and positioning patients.
• Maneuver and transport equipment and retrieve equipment or supplies.
