About The Position

This position involves training new Direct Support Professionals (DSPs) in Indiana on the Core A and Core B curriculum, which covers hands-on healthcare and medication administration for individuals with developmental disabilities. The curriculum is a revised, evidence-based program. The Nurse Instructor will be responsible for teaching this course and ensuring content is current and relevant. Additionally, the instructor may be responsible for agency-specific health-related content not covered in Core A or Core B, in collaboration with the employing agency's nursing personnel.

Requirements

  • Must have completed the Indiana Bureau of Disabilities Services (BDS) Train-the-Trainer Course.
  • Certification to teach the Core A and Core B curriculum is required.

Responsibilities

  • Lead classes to train new DSPs on the Core A and Core B curriculum.
  • Teach hands-on healthcare and medication administration for individuals with developmental disabilities.
  • Ensure training content is current, evidence-based, and relevant to DSP care responsibilities.
  • Potentially cover agency-specific health-related content not included in Core A or Core B.
