Nurse Externship
About The Position
The Choctaw Nation Nursing Extern Program is a Summer clinical learning experience for current RN students. The Extern/Nursing Assistant works 12-hour rotating shifts as assigned by the Unit Manager. Weekend shifts are assigned on a rotating basis. This is a Full-Time, Temporary position that could be in Med-Surg, OB, ER, or Clinic. The schedule could include nights, days, and/or weekends. The pay is $15 per hour. The Nurse Externship will start Monday, 6/1, and end Friday, 7/31. Weekly earned wage access is an option for this position.
Requirements
- Current RN nursing students who have completed, at minimum, one semester of nursing school
- Current CPR certification required
- Nursing School Clinical Experience
Nice To Haves
- Current CNA certification with the State of Oklahoma preferred
- Experience in medical terminology preferred
Responsibilities
- Seeks learning opportunities.
- Performs nursing skills per nursing school competency sheet under direct supervision of the RN.
- Assists with maintaining safe, comfortable environment for patient, family and staff (i.e. keep hallways clear of clutter, chairs, scales, etc.).
- Maintains patient confidentiality and adheres to “Patient Bill of Rights” policies.
- Contributing to organizational effectiveness by demonstrating punctuality when reporting for duty, adhering to hospital policy concerning rest and lunch breaks, and completing assigned duties in an effective, efficient and timely manner.
- Must demonstrate stewardship behavior by conserving hospital resources (i.e. supplies).
- Must maintain a neat, clean professional appearance.
- Other duties as assigned within scope and competency of the associate.
