About The Position

Saint Francis Hospital Nurse Externship program is an excellent opportunity for nursing students to gain hands-on clinical experience while supporting our exceptional nursing teams. This role allows students to strengthen their clinical skills, enhance patient care knowledge, and prepare for a successful transition into professional nursing practice. This is a developmental program for nursing students who want to develop multiple and varied clinical skills in a multiple nursing specialties. This position requires participation in a guided training and development program aligned to the scope outlines by the State-specific Board of Nursing. All Nurse Extern I employees begin their externship on a Medical-Surgical (Med Surg) unit, working closely with the nursing team to deliver safe, high-quality patient care. Requirements

  • Must have successfully completed a Fundamentals of Nursing course in an accredited nursing program at the time of application submission.
  • An unofficial transcript must be uploaded and submitted at the time of application to verify completion of the Fundamentals of Nursing course.
  • Nurse Externs are required to commit to working a minimum of two (2) 12-hour shifts per month throughout the duration of the externship program.
  • Minimum of two (2) twelve-hour shifts per month

Responsibilities

  • Assisting nursing staff with daily patient care activities
