About The Position

The Nurse Extern is a member of the nursing team who contributes to the comfort and well-being of the patients by performing specifically assigned tasks and works under the direction of the Registered Nurse within scope of practice. Our staff have the responsibility, accountability, & authority to provide Safe Passage for our patients and families by utilizing the six dimensions of Relationship Based Care: Resources, Teamwork, Care Delivery, Outcomes, Professional Practice and Leadership. Our model of shared decision making provides a structure for team members to drive practice decisions that impact the practice environment and patient outcomes starting at the unit level and ultimately throughout the medical center. Requirements

Current enrollment in an accredited nursing program with completion of the first semester including a fundamentals of nursing course, or recent graduation from an accredited program within 6 months.
Current Certified Nursing Assistant licensure in the state of Florida (Preferred).
Basic Rhythm Strip interpretation exam with a pass score of 80% or higher.
BLS certification through the American Heart Association for Healthcare Providers.
Two letters of recommendation from a nursing school instructor (one may be from an employer).
For each subsequent semester, must provide evidence (transcript, grade report) of continued enrollment and progress toward graduation as a nurse.
Ability to push/pull up to 40lbs, carry and lift up to 50lbs.
Must be able to work in a stressful environment.
Must be able to work independently, making sound decisions.
Must be detail-oriented, alert, and self-motivated.
Annual Joint Commission mandatory education requirements, in-service and health requirements including attendance at new employee orientation.
TB/PPD Surveillance Program.
Maintenance of required professional licensing and/or certification(s).

Nice To Haves
