About The Position

Cumberland Hall Hospital is a 97 bed, licensed, acute psychiatric hospital located in beautiful Hopkinsville, KY. Cumberland Hall features individual units for youth, adults and active-duty military, and offers inpatient acute care, partial hospitalization, and intensive outpatient programs. On average, over 1500 patients receive care from our compassionate health care team each year at Cumberland Hall Hospital. The Nursing Educator is responsible for coordinating nursing education, staff development, and competency programs while overseeing staffing schedules and assignments to ensure appropriate coverage. This role supports clinical excellence, regulatory compliance, and high-quality patient care through staff training, workforce planning, and collaboration with nursing leadership.

Requirements

  • Associates prepared in Nursing, Bachelors preferred.
  • Two years psychiatric experience with knowledge of psychotropic medications.
  • Current nursing license to practice in Kentucky.

Responsibilities

  • Develop, coordinate, and deliver nursing orientation, onboarding, and continuing education programs for clinical staff.
  • Assess, validate, and document staff for competencies to ensure compliance with organizational and regulatory requirements.
  • Coordinate and maintain nursing staff schedules to ensure appropriate staffing levels and patient care coverage.
  • Monitor daily staffing needs and adjust based on census, acuity, staff availability, and budgetary guidelines.
  • Provide education and training related to clinical best practices, patient safety, infection prevention, and behavioral health care.
  • Support quality improvement initiatives through staff education, performance monitoring, and follow-up training.
  • Collaborate with nursing leadership to identify learning needs and develop performance improvement plans.
  • Maintain education, competency, licensure, certification, and staffing records in accordance with regulatory standards.
  • Participate in surveys, audits, accreditation activities, and regulatory readiness efforts.
  • Serve as a clinical resource, mentor, and consultant to nursing staff while promoting a culture of continuous learning and professional development.
