About The Position

Destiny Springs Healthcare is seeking a passionate and experienced Nurse Educator to lead staff development, clinical education, and infection prevention initiatives in our growing behavioral health organization. This is a Full-Time, In-Office Position located in a collaborative healthcare environment where your expertise will directly impact patient care and staff success. The Nurse Educator is responsible for developing, conducting, and evaluating organizational nurse training programs and New Employee orientation (NEO). Conducts group and individual training through in-service, on-the-job training, and computer education modules. Serves as a resource person to staff and management. Performs administrative duties as needed, plans a monthly calendar for education activities, and serves on special committees as needed. Assists in the coordination and management of the infection control program within the facility. Provides collaboration with nursing leadership in the application of infection control to patient access, organizational process, and capacity. Knowledgeable regarding patient management and safety.

Requirements

  • Current and unencumbered RN License in the state of Arizona.
  • BSN required.
  • Five years of experience in a nursing required.
  • One year in behavioral health environment preferred.
  • Technical aptitude.
  • Strong communication skills (written and verbal).
  • Ethical Conduct.
  • Ability to perform tasks independently.

Nice To Haves

  • Master’s Degree preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Develops, conducts, and evaluates organizational nurse training programs and New Employee orientation (NEO).
  • Conducts group and individual training through in-service, on-the-job training, and computer education modules.

  • Assists in the coordination and management of the infection control program within the facility.
  • Provides collaboration with nursing leadership in the application of infection control to patient access, organizational process, and capacity.
  • Demonstrates the clinical expertise, leadership, management, communication skills and knowledge of educational principles necessary to develop educational programs and achieve optimal educational outcomes.
  • Ability to develop instructional materials; set-up and demonstrate patient care equipment.
  • Conducts educational classes, in-services, new employee orientation, and/or provides individual instruction as necessary.
  • Facilitates CPR/AED certification courses.
  • Facilitates Crisis Prevention Institute (CPI) training.
  • Partners with leadership team members to develop, implement and evaluate annual infection prevention goals and action plans.
  • Partners with Infection Control Specialist in overseeing the operations of infection prevention, epidemiology, industrial hygiene, and relevant safety programs.
  • Assist Infection Control Specialist in ensuring appropriate intervention and education occurs with staff regarding healthcare infection trends, outbreaks, or non-compliance to infection control/OSHA are identified.
  • Creates onboarding activities and evaluates new employee’s performance during conditional period.
  • Provides remedial education and orientation as necessary or appropriate.
  • Develops objectives for each in-service and evaluates presentation and teaching material through staff feedback.
  • Interacts professionally with the nursing staff and nursing leadership to determine specific educational and/or developmental needs.
  • Documents staff attendance at in-services; ensures educational/competency requirements, organization requirements and standards are met on an annual basis by all nursing staff members in collaboration with the nursing leadership team.
  • Ability to serve as a resource person, consultant to nursing and medical staff by utilizing Policy & Procedure.
  • Identifies, develops, coordinates and plans educational offerings for Behavioral Health personnel, with consideration of but not limited to mandatory regulations, safety, performance improvement, new equipment, technologies, and clinical practices.
  • Perform other functions as assigned by a registered nurse or the Director of Nursing.
