About The Position

The Nurse Educator develops, maintains, and presents education materials and courses to clinical staff under the appropriate guidelines, such as chemotherapy biotherapy courses, oncology courses, and other developmental opportunities. They plan, direct, and evaluate the overall needs for clinical education, providing programs that conform to accepted practice standards i.e., Oncology Nursing Society, (ONS), National Comprehensive Cancer Network (NCCN), etc. They participate in the activities of nursing and medical assistant virtual orientation and the training of newly hired clinical nurses, medical assistants, and clinical nurse managers 1:1 in clinic prior to transitioning them to their preceptor.

Requirements

  • Registered Nurse, licensed in the State of Florida
  • OCN national certification or acquire within 12 months of hire
  • Minimum five years’ experience with hematology/oncology patients
  • Minimum one year experience facilitating educational programs
  • Analysis & Critical Thinking
  • Strong interpersonal skills to include effective verbal and written communication
  • Solid time management with the ability to prioritize multiple tasks
  • Ability to collaborate across various levels of management, departments, and teams
  • Comfortable negotiating problems and exploring solutions with multiple disciplines throughout the organization

Responsibilities

  • Works in partnership with nursing leadership and other nurse educators to assess the clinical nurse and medical assistant onboarding program for effectiveness, to ensure strong oncology foundation and standardization of training across all clinics
  • Initiates skills development programs utilizing various media platforms within the parameters of established care models; monitors trends and implements educational strategies to ensure compliance with quality standards and parameters
  • Contributes to the achievement of clinical staff’s annual competency evaluations and skills checkoffs within their demographic area
  • Acts as a general clinical resource for existing personnel
  • Formally meets with the new hires and their preceptor at specific intervals throughout the entire orientation phase of the new hire to ensure success of independent practice
  • Collaborates with nurse managers and other leadership to conduct clinic site visits to perform competency evaluation, re-education of quality concerns and trended safety events, and assess for protocol and process standardization of workflow as needed within the clinic
  • Develops work procedures and processes that support company and departmental standards, procedures, and strategic directives
  • Maintains a positive working relationship with preceptors; meeting and mentoring the preceptors in their designated area and developing supportive preceptor education programs
  • Attend FCS Town Halls, Monthly Department Meetings, Monthly Pharmacy/Touchbase meeting, other ad-hoc nursing/quality/safety meetings as needed, and national conferences as allowed, to maintain current practice with organizational strategies, policies, and evidence-based nursing practice
  • Provide direct patient care a minimum of one day per month to remain current with nursing practice and FCS workflow
  • Facilitate and participate in pilot programs and in-service new product education as needed
  • Maintains a positive working relationship with all other company employees to foster and promote a cooperative and harmonious working environment that will be conducive to facilitate educational goals, productivity, and efficiency/effectiveness
