About The Position

NICU experience and BSN required. 0.3FTE, 12 hours per week. Night shift, 7p-7a. Will need to be flexible with attending some days/evening shift meetings or education days. This role oversees a focused unit/group, often working directly with new staff and preceptors, and continually assessing the onboarding process. It delivers educational experiences to small groups for the assigned unit. The Nurse Educator does not manage staff but must work in collaboration with leadership and network with Professional Development and other system educators to ensure organizational and department goals are met.

Requirements

• BSN, required.
• RN, Ohio, required.
• Competency in nursing clinical practice applicable to the clinical unit/area assigned.
• Three years of experience as an RN required.

Nice To Haves

• MSN or related field, preferred.
• Certification in Professional Development/Education, Leadership or Clinical Specialty, preferred.
• Pediatric experience, preferred.

Responsibilities

• Develops and manages new hire orientations for assigned unit.
• Assesses and develops unit specific education to meet needs, collaborating with leadership and system resources.
• Serves as educational resource to assigned unit; facilitates communication of policy changes and system educational opportunities impacting assigned unit.
• Provides classroom style education, huddles, or other methods of delivery of education targeting needs of assigned unit.
• Oversees competency assessments and skills training.
