About The Position

The Nurse Educator is a Registered Nurse responsible for developing, implementing, coordinating, and evaluating nursing education initiatives in support of patient care excellence. This role promotes evidence-based care, compliance, professional development, and competency validation for infusion nurses, nurse navigators, and nurse triage. The Nurse Educator assists in developing policies, procedures, and patient education materials, including participation in patient education processes. The Nurse Educator is a member of the Nursing Leadership team, reporting to the Senior Director of Nursing.

Requirements

  • Licensed Registered Nurse in the State of Michigan.
  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN).
  • Minimum of 4 years nursing experience in the field or related area is required.
  • Successful completion of company competency-based orientation program.
  • Oncology Certified Nurse certification or acquisition within 1 year of employment.
  • ONS Chemotherapy / Biotherapy Provider Card or acquisition within 6 months of employment.
  • Michigan Institute for Care Management and Transformation (MICMT) Training or acquisition within 60 days of employment.
  • BLS Instructor certification within 3 months of hire.
  • Working knowledge of computers and their applications to the related field.
  • Ability to function effectively in a fast-paced outpatient environment with strong attention to timeliness, accuracy, and patient service.

Nice To Haves

  • Master of Science in Nursing (MSN), Nursing Education, or related field preferred.
  • Prior experience in staff education, precepting, or clinical instruction preferred.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills; ability to work well with all levels of management and staff.
  • Skilled at fostering a culture of continuous learning and professional excellence.

Responsibilities

  • Foster a culture of continuous learning and professional excellence by partnering with nursing leadership to assess and respond to the learning needs of nurses, patients, and families.
  • Develop, revise, implement, and evaluate nurse onboarding, orientation, competency, and continuing education programs.
  • Assist nursing leadership in developing and revising policy/procedure, clinical protocols, staff, and patient educational materials.
  • Partner with interdisciplinary teams to create and provide education/in-services to share new or revised clinical protocols, procedures, equipment, healthcare content, and regulatory requirements.
  • Assist with clinical information systems training as needed.
  • Partner with nursing leadership to conduct staff education needed to address clinical outcomes, quality, safety, and patient experience performance deficits.
  • Show a presence across locations engaging nurse teams as often as possible.
  • Lead or participate in committees, workgroups, and professional practice initiatives.
  • Maintain specialty expertise, including technical skills, through professional and educational association membership, meetings, and workshops.
  • Support specialty certification preparation, such as Oncology Nursing Certification Corporation certifications.
