About The Position

The University of Miami/UHealth, Center of Clinical Excellence has an exciting opportunity for a Nurse Educator. This role is responsible for assessing, designing, coordinating, and evaluating educational programs for nursing and clinical staff. The Nurse Educator creates a learning environment, collaborates on education plans, and supports the assessment and evaluation of staff skills and knowledge. They also play a key role in onboarding, orientation, and integrating new employees, focusing on retention and growth. Additionally, this position initiates collaborative partnerships, promotes research and evidence-based practice, and participates in continuing education programs. The Nurse Educator 3 is expected to contribute to system-level nursing excellence through various functions including quality and regulatory readiness, data-driven practice improvement, shared governance, EBP integration, Magnet readiness, frontline coaching, and academic-practice partnerships.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in relevant field required.
  • Minimum 4 years of relevant experience required.
  • Valid State of Florida RN license required from an accredited institution.
  • ACLS and BLS issued from the American Heart Association.
  • Learning Agility: Ability to learn new procedures, technologies, and protocols, and adapt to changing priorities and work demands.
  • Teamwork: Ability to work collaboratively with others and contribute to a team environment.
  • Technical Proficiency: Skilled in using office software, technology, and relevant computer applications.
  • Communication: Strong and clear written and verbal communication skills for interacting with colleagues and stakeholders.

Nice To Haves

  • Master’s degree in Nursing or related field is strongly preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Assesses, designs, coordinates/conducts/facilitates and evaluates educational programs for nursing and clinical staff based on environmental scanning results: identified practice gaps, regulatory/accreditation, specialty standards, PI reports, mission/values, policies, procedures, guidelines, and learning needs.
  • Develops and evaluates activities to achieve specific outcomes related to identified deficits or opportunities for improvement in knowledge, skills, or practice.
  • Creates a learning environment by collaborating with practitioners, leaders, nurses, educators, providers, patient care staff, and unit management in providing continuing nursing education, quality education, and interprofessional education.
  • Collaborates with the educators to develop an education plan for patient care staff to ensure proper use and maintenance of equipment and supplies.
  • Supports ongoing assessment and evaluation of the skills, knowledge, abilities, and judgement of licensed and non-licensed healthcare personnel.
  • Measures, documents, and supports competency, and addresses competency deficits in staff members and teams.
  • Assesses and evaluates the process of hiring, orienting, socializing, and integrating an employee to the organization with a focus on retention and growth.
  • Designs, facilitates, and evaluates orientation of licensed and unlicensed healthcare personnel during onboarding and when changes in roles, responsibilities, and practice settings occur.
  • Creates, coordinates, manages, facilitates, conducts, and evaluates onboarding and orientation programs for licensed and unlicensed healthcare personnel.
  • Initiates collaborative partnerships and promotes and participates in research, evidence-based practice, and quality improvement initiatives.
  • Appraises professional knowledge by partnering with individuals, groups, and/or organizations to share expertise in planning and decision-making to achieve common goals. Collaborative partnerships may include interprofessional groups within the organization, academic/practice partnerships, and community partnerships.
  • Participates in the planning, approval and evaluation of applicable continuing education programs, conferences, seminars, and workshops.
  • Teaches, coordinates, serves as liaison, and advises others concerning education and learning.
  • Adheres to University and unit-level policies and procedures and safeguards University assets.
  • Support Joint Commission readiness, regulatory compliance, and adherence to professional standards.
  • Analyze and trend Nurse Sensitive Indicators (NSIs), Zero Harm metrics, patient experience, and RN engagement data to identify gaps and drive improvement.
  • Strengthen Unit-Based Practice Councils (UBPCs), mentor council leaders, and promote nursing engagement in organizational decision-making.
  • Identify practice gaps, support EBP initiatives, and contribute to research and performance improvement activities.
  • Advance Magnet readiness, support exemplar development, and embed the Professional Practice Model and Caring Science principles into practice.
  • Partner with leaders and staff to observe workflows, validate practice, and implement targeted improvement strategies.
  • Actively support academic-practice partnerships, including participation in clinical education.
  • Serve as a Clinical Instructor in partnership with affiliated Schools of Nursing.
  • Provide structured clinical learning experiences aligned with organizational priorities, quality outcomes, and professional practice standards.
  • Support the development of Nurse Scholars (students/learners) through mentorship, clinical oversight, and integration into practice environments.
  • Contribute to scholarly and professional activities, which may include dissemination of work through presentations, posters, or publications.
  • Participate in research, evidence-based practice, and quality improvement initiatives.
  • Engage in professional organizations and academic collaboration.
