The Director of Procedural & Perioperative Services is responsible for providing strategic and operational leadership for Nantucket Cottage Hospital’s procedural, surgical, and perioperative departments. This role focuses on operational stabilization, standardization of practice, regulatory compliance, quality and patient safety, workforce development, and measured service line growth. The position exists to solve defined operational and coordination challenges within procedural services and to translate organizational strategy into reliable daily practice. The Director partners closely with the Chief Operating Officer, Chief Nursing Officer and Chief Medical Officer, along with nursing, anesthesia, surgeons, proceduralists, and administrative leaders, to ensure high-quality, efficient, and financially responsible perioperative care aligned with both local needs and Mass General Brigham enterprise standards. SCOPE OF OVERSIGHT • Operating Room • Pre-Op • PACU • Endoscopy • Interventional / Procedural Areas • Sterile Processing (as applicable locally) Job Summary Directs, plans, and coordinates the service activities and staffing performance of professional nursing and auxiliary nursing personnel in rendering quality patient care. Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree Nursing required and Master's Degree Nursing preferred
  • Can this role accept experience in lieu of a degree? Yes
  • MA RN License required
  • Cardiovascular Life Support [ACLS (AHA)] - American Heart Association (AHA) preferred
  • Basic Life Support [BLS Certification] - Data Conversion - Various Issuers preferred
  • Nursing experience 2-3 years required and Nursing leadership experience 1-2 years preferred
  • Strong organizational and interpersonal skills.
  • Must have excellent critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong commitment to clinical excellence.
  • Ability to remain calm in stressful situations.
  • Knowledgeable of the care required by respective age groups for which care is being provided.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure the development, implementation, and evaluation of staff onboarding, training, and education.
  • Provide ongoing coaching and performance feedback for staff.
  • Ensures a positive work environment that is safe for patients, visitors, and staff.
  • Coordinating unit activities with other hospital departments of the hospital.
  • Develops and implements staffing plans.
