About The Position

Cherry Hospital, a State Psychiatric Hospital serving the eastern region of North Carolina, is recruiting for a Nurse Director I (Assistant Director of Nursing) position. Employees in this class are responsible for the direction, administration, and supervision of specific service areas. Employees have complete responsibility for independently planning, coordinating, implementing, and evaluating the quality of system-wide nursing care delivered through the organization. Work is performed under the general supervision of the Chief Nursing Officer. This position will assist the Chief Nursing Officer in establishing goals and developing systems to accomplish 24 hours a day nursing care hospital wide. Position has 24-hour accountability for oversight/direction of nursing services for several patient care units in collaboration with unit nurse managers. This position leads or is a member of various committees/groups and participates in multiple projects. As a condition for continued employment: must successfully pass all required parts of CPI's Non-Violent Crisis Intervention course and CPR.

Requirements

  • Licensed to practice as a Registered Nurse in the State of North Carolina
  • Five years of nursing experience, including three years of experience in a Nurse Supervisor capacity.

  • Considerable knowledge of standards and practices regarding their specific programs and or agency/facility.
  • Ability to identify and address quality monitoring and performance improvement issues for the specific program.
  • Ability to write and present reports to management and administration.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of personnel procedures including recruitment, performance appraisal, and disciplinary procedures.
