This role requires a competent clinician with the knowledge and skills to meet the standards for competent professional nursing practice as specified in the Texas Nurse Practice Act. The Nurse Clinician III is experienced, knowledgeable, and skilled in their specialty area, functioning competently as a member of the interdisciplinary team. Their practice is characterized by predominantly interdependent decision-making, is problem-focused and patient-centered, and enables them to manage unexpected or emergency situations commonly seen in their assigned specialty population. This position serves as a resource for Nurse Clinician I or II, and can manage commonly seen contingency situations that arise on the clinical unit. They provide patient care through nursing practices based upon the American Nurses Association Standards of Professional Practice and Professional Performance, valuing specialty unit, nursing, and institutional strategic initiatives and health system goals.
