About The Position

Nemours is seeking a Nurse Clinician to join our Nemours Children’s Health team in Wilmington, DE. The Nurse Clinician nursing role is responsible for improvement and maintenance of scientifically based clinical nursing care in an area of specialized nursing practice or for specific population. The Nurse Clinician intervenes at the patient/family, the nurse, and at the systems level. In collaboration with the health care team, the Nurse Clinician provides expert family centered clinical care and clinical consultation within her/his area of expertise to improve outcomes and to promote integrated health care that is safe, equitable, timely, effective, and efficient. The Nurse Clinican achieves this by providing direct and indirect care to patients and their families, promoting professional development, disseminating and conducting research and contributing to and leading clinical policy and procedure development and revision.

Requirements

  • Enrolled in a Clinical Nurse Specialist program
  • Minimum 5 years related clinical experience
  • Active Delaware (or compact state) Registered Nurse Licensure Required

Responsibilities

  • Models advanced assessment and interpretation, implements nursing care, and evaluates outcomes for patient populations.
  • Demonstrates clinical expertise while supporting clinical nurses to integrate new evidence into practice.
  • Provides education or teaching skills to clinical teams, patients and family.
  • Focuses on (and role models) interprofessional team building and effective team functioning.
  • Reviews alternative approaches and implementing planned change to meet needs considering cultural, social, family and system diversity.
  • Interprets and uses research to evaluate practice, and collaborates in research.
  • Responsible for innovation and change in the patient care system. Able to make connections within components.
  • Influences the negotiation of moral dilemmas, allocating resources, directing patient care and access to care.
  • Responds to subtle patient and family changes: engages with each unique patient in a compassionate manner.
