About The Position

Seeking a Clinical Pediatrics Nurse located at Madigan Army Medical Center, Pediatric Unit, in Tacoma, Washington. Requirements

  • US Citizen
  • Degree: A graduate or higher-level degree, bachelor's degree, associate degree, or diploma from an accredited professional nursing educational program accredited by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education, Council on Accreditation of Nurse Anesthesia Educational Programs, Accreditation Commission for Midwifery Education, or an accrediting body recognized by the U.S. Department of Education.
  • Licensure: A current, active, full, and unrestricted license or registration as a professional nurse from a State, the District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, or a territory of the United States.
  • Must have passed the National Council Licensure Examination.
  • A diploma, associate degree, or bachelor's degree in nursing from a professional nursing program and possession of at least one full year of professional nursing experience (equivalent to the GS-9 grade level or above) which includes managing moderately pediatric cases; conducting comprehensive pediatric assessments; developing care plans; educating families on growth milestones, and preventive care.
  • OR A PhD or equivalent doctoral degree from a professional nursing educational program or related medical science field.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as a member of the interdisciplinary pediatric care team, observing, assessing, and continuously monitoring the condition of pediatric patients for timely and effective clinical interventions.
  • Deliver nursing care tailored to the developmental and age-specific needs of pediatric patients.
  • Operate pediatric medical and surgical equipment, ensuring safe, accurate, and effective use in specialized clinical settings.
  • Partner with interdisciplinary healthcare teams to design and implement strategic initiatives aimed at enhancing the quality, efficiency, and outcomes of patient care services.
  • Educate family members on comprehensive home care strategies, nursing, and psychosocial needs to support optimal pediatric health outcomes.
  • Conduct follow-up phone consultations with parents to provide education, support, and guidance on pediatric diseases and illness management.
  • Serve as a mentor, clinical resource, and preceptor for newly assigned staff, fostering professional development, promoting best practices, and supporting a smooth transition into the pediatric care environment.
