About The Position

Under the direction of the Adult Outpatient Services Manager and working within an interdisciplinary mental health and addiction team, the Community Mental Health Nurse will provide a range of clinical services to adults with mental health and addiction issues and support to their families. The incumbent will also serve as an important link between Intermediate Care Services and the services provided by the Primary Health Care System.

Requirements

  • Graduate from school of general nursing with training in psychiatric nursing
  • Bachelor of Psychiatric Nursing (BPN)
  • Registered Psychiatric Nurses Association of Saskatchewan (RPNAS)
  • Familiarity with Adults, Adolescents and Children w/ complex case presentations
  • Min. 2 yrs (post grad) work exp. in community mental health/addiction services
  • Computer network skills
  • Organizational skills
  • Highly developed written and oral communication skills
  • Demonstrates knowledge of community services, programs, and resources
  • Ability to document in a concise and timely manner
  • Knowledge in various intervention strategies for individuals and groups
  • Knowledge and practical application of the Mental Health Services Act and Health Information Protection Act and other legislation
  • Ability to work within a change management model
  • Demonstrates critical thinking, problem solving, conflict resolution skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • knowledge and skills related to community psychiatric nursing practice
  • Demonstrates leadership abilities
  • Knowledge of the diversity of cultures, values and traditions
  • Ability to work independently and as a member of a multi-disciplinary team
  • Ability to enter and retrieve data in computer database systems
  • A valid driver's license and a vehicle is required to carry out duties

Responsibilities
