About The Position

Reporting to the Manager, the Clinical Resource Nurse (CRN) is responsible for promoting the Mission, Vision and Values of the Saskatchewan Health Authority through the provision of safe quality nursing care to clients. The Clinical Resource Nurse educates, mentors and supports unit staff, promotes patient safety, occupational health and safety and quality improvement on the unit.

Requirements

  • Baccalaureate degree in Nursing
  • A minimum of five (5) years of recent ICU nursing experience
  • Current registration with College of Registered Nurses of Saskatchewan (CRNS)
  • Current BCLS certification

Nice To Haves

  • Current ACLS certification preferred
  • Other specialty certifications related to the clinical program area as required
  • Understands principles of adult education
  • Demonstrates excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Demonstrates expertise in medical nursing, technical skills and psychosocial aspects of care
  • Demonstrates well-developed critical thinking abilities and sound clinical judgment and the ability to maintain composure under stress. Also requires the ability to foster these skills in other staff
  • Demonstrates in-depth knowledge to assess and manage acute and chronically ill patients
  • Demonstrates ability to do research and apply knowledge related to current best practice
  • Demonstrates initiative, self-direction, and the ability to work effectively and collaboratively in an integrated multidisciplinary team. The ability to facilitate teamwork is essential
  • Knowledge of current trends, issues, and perspectives of nursing in ICU
  • Knowledge of role of ICU within the broader health system
  • Demonstrated clinical expertise & clinical decision-making ability for ICU patient care
  • Demonstrates ability to establish and maintain positive interpersonal/consultative relationships and communication patterns including conflict resolution in order to work effectively with staff, physicians, and families
  • Strong leadership skills are essential
  • Demonstrates resourcefulness and judgment to collaboratively plan, implement, and evaluate program development activities such as quality improvement projects
  • Demonstrates ability to accept and implement change
  • Demonstrates commitment to continuing professional development
