About The Position

The Assistant Head Nurse supports the Health Services Manager in assessing, planning, coordinating, implementing, and evaluating nursing services in alignment with Saskatchewan Health Authority policies. The role includes providing direct client care, promoting health, preventing illness and injury, offering supportive and emergency services, and collaborating with other health professionals. The Assistant Head Nurse oversees client care delivery, supervises staff and volunteers in the Manager’s absence, ensures effective facility operations, and assists with new employee orientation.

Requirements

Minimum 5 years clinical experience in nursing
Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BScN)
Bachelor of Psychiatric Nursing is acceptable
Psychiatric Nursing diploma is acceptable
Nursing diploma is acceptable
Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation Level C Certificate (CPR)
Knowledge in nursing process
Basic computer skills including Microsoft Office programs (Word/Excel/Outlook)
Registered/eligible with the College of Registered Nurses of Saskatchewan (CRNS)
Ability to promote a collaborative and team approach
Demonstrated clinical competency
Strong interpersonal skills
Demonstrated skill in teaching
Requires sound knowledge of nursing process
Demonstrates leadership abilities
Leadership skills to ensure positive outcomes in care
Ability to coach, mentor and develop others
Ability to lead best practice
