About The Position
The Nurse Assistant provides care to patients according to the plan of care, unit routine, and hospital policy under the direction of a Registered Nurse. The role includes safely transporting patients by wheelchair or stretcher, dispatching services, documenting services, and serving as an observer for patients who require constant observation, either in person or through remote video monitoring. The Nurse Assistant also performs general receptionist and clerical duties to support efficient nursing-unit operations and documents care in the electronic medical record. The position is on 4 North, a 37-bed medical-surgical unit focused on stroke and neurology patients. The unit cares for a wide range of complex disease processes and fosters critical thinking, clinical judgment, professional communication, teamwork, and a judgment-free learning environment. The role is based at Troy Hospital.
Requirements
- High school graduate or equivalent.
- American Heart Association or American Red Cross Basic Life Support certification is required.
Nice To Haves
- Previous hospital or nursing home experience.
- Current CNA certification.
Responsibilities
