Nurse Assistant Med Surg Ortho 6 West
About The Position
The Nurse Assistant works on the Med Surg Ortho 6 West unit at Troy Hospital, a newly built orthopedic unit with 44 private patient rooms. Under the direction of a Registered Nurse, the role provides care according to the patient's plan of care, unit routine, and hospital policy. Duties also include safe patient transport, observation services for patients requiring constant observation, documentation in the electronic medical record, and receptionist and clerical work to support efficient nursing-unit operations. The position requires a consecutive week of corporate orientation, Monday through Friday from 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. The regular schedule is 36 hours per week, 7:00 a.m. to 7:30 p.m., with days worked Sunday through Saturday and every third weekend. Corewell Health offers a sign-on bonus of up to $1,500 for qualifying new hires.
Requirements
- High school graduate or equivalent.
- American Heart Association or American Red Cross Basic Life Support certification is required within 30 days of hire.
Nice To Haves
- Previous hospital or nursing home experience.
- Current CNA certification.
Responsibilities
- Provide patient care according to the plan of care, unit routine, and hospital policy under the direction of a Registered Nurse.
- Safely transport patients by wheelchair or stretcher.
- Dispatch services and document services appropriately.
- Provide in-person or remote video observation for patients assessed as requiring constant observation to maximize their safety.
- Perform general receptionist and clerical duties to facilitate efficient functioning of the nursing unit.
- Document care provided in the electronic medical record.
