About The Position

Delivers direct nursing care under the supervision of a registered professional nurse. Adheres to facility policies and procedures and regulatory agency requirements and standards.

Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent.
Completion of a Nurse Assistant Program.
Certification by the New York State Department of Health.
Minimum of one year of related experience.

Responsibilities

Administers nursing care under direct supervision to assigned residents.
Provides hygienic care to residents and oversees or assists with activities of daily living.
Reports observations and unusual conditions of residents to the registered nurse.
Prepares the unit, resident rooms, and resident beds for admissions, transfers, and emergencies.
Provides care as necessary to ensure residents’ physical and mental comfort.
Takes vital signs of assigned residents and reports abnormal values to the nurse in charge.
Performs Grade I decubitus care and preventive skin care measures, including turning, positioning, and heel elevation at appropriate intervals.
Transports residents to and from units under the direction of an RN and in accordance with transfer technique policies and procedures.
Assists with and accompanies residents during admission, discharge, transfer, and transport procedures while assuring comfort.
Prepares residents for meals and helps feed them as assigned, following ORZAC’s feeding techniques and relevant policies and procedures.
Provides constant observation for residents requiring increased security to prevent harmful behavior.
Collects specimens, labels them properly, and transports them in a timely manner.
Maintains a safe and clean environment for residents; washes equipment, helps keep work areas clean, and replenishes supplies as necessary.
Performs related duties as required.
