Nurse Assistant in a Hospital Setting
About The Position
Madison Regional Health System is seeking a full-time Nurse Assistant to join its medical team and support its mission of providing quality healthcare close to home. The Nurse Assistant performs routine and non-routine duties as directed by nursing staff, provides patient care, observes and reports changes in patient condition, and completes required documentation in the electronic medical record. The role involves working across departments such as medical and surgical areas. The position offers 12-hour rotating shifts, with every third weekend and a rotation of day, night, and holiday shifts. Full-time and part-time positions are available. Working conditions include a clean, well-lighted area and may involve exposure to infectious disease, body fluids, odors, dust, or other unpleasant conditions related to patient care. The role involves sitting, standing, walking, bending, stooping, and repetitive hand and wrist motion.
Requirements
- CPR certification is required.
- Excellent customer service.
- Attention to detail.
- Great telephone etiquette.
- Computer knowledge.
- Ability to multitask in pressure-filled or stressful situations.
Responsibilities
- Answer call lights promptly.
- Provide morning and evening patient care, including bathing, shampooing, oral care, personal hygiene, shaving, and nail care.
- Prepare patients for meals and assist them with meals.
- Take and record vital signs.
- Measure and record patient intake and output.
- Ambulate patients, provide backrubs, and reposition patients in and out of chairs.
- Assist patients with admission, transfer, and discharge.
- Report changes in patient condition.
- Make frequent rounds and observe patients.
- Complete required documentation in the electronic medical record.
