About The Position

The Infectious Disease Unit at Henry Ford Health is a 23-bed unit specializing in the care of patients with a wide range of diagnoses including cellulitis, sepsis, HIV/AIDS, pneumonia, osteomyelitis, infected ulcers, and various fungal, bacterial, and viral infections. The unit features 12 negative pressure rooms and serves patients aged 15 and older. The staff are adept at caring for special pathogens such as MERS and multi-drug resistant organisms. Nursing assistants on this unit gain extensive skills by caring for patients with complex medical conditions. This unique professional experience and learning opportunity is available to all levels of staff.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or G.E.D. equivalent.
  • Completion of a Nurse Assistant program (e.g., Patient Care Technician or Patient Assistant Technician) OR currently enrolled in a nursing program with successful completion of Fundamentals of Nursing OR foreign trained and licensed RN without a Michigan RN license OR Medical Assistant program with or without experience OR at least one (1) year of previous experience in a similar role.
  • Complete BLS Heart Saver Certification during orientation.

Nice To Haves

  • CNA certification preferred.
